Today I ventured out past the pond to the creek behind. It is called South Creek and it is a mecca for wildlife. There were so many birds and so much early morning activity. I love heading out in the early morning when it is till so peaceful and cool. You don't really hear anything but the nature that surrounds you. I find it very meditative and love it.
So first thing I cam upon was the Sandhill Crane family with the grown babies. They are almost as large as mom and dad are now and trying to spread their wings! WOW take a look.
Then as I made my way around the pond and over to a different community pond in entered a brand new Sandhill Crane family with two new born chicks! I didn't want to get too close to the family as to not scare or stress the parents.
Here is a photos of South Creek this early morning. I hope to find more activity as i explore more of the creek and the ponds surrounding my community. I did see a new spoonbill yesterday and there was lots of activity yesterday morning on the pond. But I choose to just enjoy it and not try to chase it with the camera. Sometimes its better to just sit and listen, observe and take it all in.
We all have "ponds" around us and it's important for us to get out and enjoy the nature and beauty around us, if ever so small.
